Our modern facilities and technologies allow us to offer a comprehensive range of surgical procedures that a Pet Doctor will discuss in detail with you. These include:
We use radiosurgery for nearly all our soft tissue surgery. It seals nerve endings to reduce post operative pain, reduces swelling and also inflammation. We think we owe it to our patients to make sure they are as confortable as possible during recovery from surgery.

At Pet Doctors we offer a full range of radiology services. These services are valuable resources in helping us make important decisions about your pet's care.
The most common of these radiology services are x-rays. X-rays—also referred to as radiographs—are used to evaluate structures such as bones, lungs, heart, and abdominal organs. The x-ray process usually takes 20-30 minutes. For safety reasons, owners are not allowed to be in the radiology room while x-rays are being taken.
In most cases animals will need to be sedated to allow us to properly position them for their x-ray films. If a pet needs sedation we generally recommend leaving the pet with us for the day. Once the x-rays are completed our vets will evaluate the images and go over the results with you. In addition, we have a board certified veterinary radiologist who can review the x-rays we take onsite to make sure we have obtained all the information we possibly can from your pet’s x-rays.

As part of our imaging services we also offer ultrasounds. Ultrasound imaging, or sonography, is a method of obtaining images from inside the pet through the use of high-frequency sound waves, and it is a wonderful tool that allows us to visualise the architecture of a pet’s abdominal organs in order to evaluate for masses, inflammation, stones, or other changes.
We can easily determine if there is abnormal fluid in the abdomen, chest cavity or around the heart. Also, we can evaluate the size and function of the heart. Ultrasound is a non-painful procedure and rarely, do pets need to be sedated. Generally pets should be fasted of food for 8 hours prior to their ultrasound. For abdominal ultrasound most pets will need to have the underside of their bellies shaved for the procedure.
All of our ultrasounds are performed by our trained veterinary surgeons.

At Pet Doctors we have four hospital wards. A critical care recover ward, an isolation ward for infectious diseases, and a dedicated cat and dog ward with cages that are temperature controlled and insulated.

At Pet Doctors we offer a complete laboratory service. This service is a valuable resource in helping us make important decisions about your pet's health and care.
The benefits of in house testing and laboratory sampling, including blood and urine, will help Pet Doctors Vets determine causes of illness accurately, safely, and quickly. It also allows us to monitor the progress of medical treatments and the effects of certain medications. Understanding the importance of laboratory testing allows you to be an informed partner in your pet’s care. Published research shows that more than 10% of pets brought in for annual checkups have an underlying disease or abnormality. Although apparently normal on physical exam, these pet’s illnesses would go undetected without laboratory work.

We pride ourselves on the professional care we provide within our fields of training and expertise however sometimes we encounter situations that require specialist attention which we will refer your pet to for care such as:

Canine Hip Dysplasia afflicts millions of dogs each year and can result in debilitating osteoarthritis of the hip. It is estimated that more than 50% of the most popular large breed dogs will show x-ray evidence of Canine Hip Dysplasia. Many will suffer from osteoarthritis, pain, and lameness, costing money, shortening work longevity, and reducing performance.
